Statement
Seeing and Being Seen explores the exchange between perception and presence. This exhibition presents artists from China who assert individuality within rigid traditions.
To create is to make the unsayable visible. To see is to affirm. To be seen is to exist.
The works explore how individuals navigate identity, memory, and emotion, revealing aspects of the self that are often hidden. Art here is not resolution but encounter: a record of transformation and the presence of the self.
To see is to feel—perceiving the world not just with the eyes but through an inner awareness. To be seen is to offer a vulnerable yet brave part of oneself, transforming personal experience into a shared history.
“看见,未必是眼睛的事。它可能是一种心灵的触动,一次灵魂的呼吸,或是某个瞬间与时间不期而遇的停顿。被看见,也未必只是外在的表象,而是记忆被触碰、文化被唤醒、生命在他者目光中得到回响。”
Each work embodies a negotiation between inner reflection and outward expression, offering multiple perspectives on observation and reception. Visibility is not only literal but emotional, cultural, and experiential.
Rooted in cross-cultural experiences and the physicality of memory, the exhibition encourages a slow, attentive encounter—a space of connection, empathy, and shared recognition.
